On Wednesday 19th October, PP Karen Munjak from the Rotary Club of Grande Prairie, Canada, visited our club with her West Aussie husband Paul, and mother-in-law Anne.

Karen, Paul & Anne

Karen made an excellent presentation on the incredible work her Rotary Club is doing to assist in the resettlement of Ukrainian refugees.

Thus far around 120 have been resettled, with clothing, housing, work, school etc. – totally assisted to assimilate into the small town in the northwestern area of Canada.

The Club is flush with funds due to an annual house raffle, plus the Canadian, local governments and local establishments in the town all combine financially to make this massive undertaking successful.

With Rotarians working together with their local community and the various levels of government, Grand Prairie’s assistance to completely integrate Ukrainian refugees into their community is a wonderful example of how a Rotary Club can play a role in economic and community development.
