Musical Advocates / Adjuncts to Re-Vitalising and Enhancing / Enriching Lives.
The overall goal of this project was to design and conduct a six-week music therapy program, run by high school students (therapists) to reach out to the elderly (clients), with the intention of:
- improving physical and emotional well-being,
- exercising creativity,
- promoting fun and learning,
- bringing the young and old together in a mutually beneficial way, and
- providing community service to those in need.
Coordinated by Dr Elayne Ooi, this project was successfully run at the Hellenic Community Residential Care facility in Noranda and concluded on 10th November 2019.
This project included trialling some music performances for the residents, music therapy in the form of a sing-a-long and playing a simple percussion instrument.
