Uncle John is turning 89 years old. He was not prepared for what he is about to see: Lau & Sheila, from the Rotary Club of Freshwater Bay.
On very short notice, they came with all the food well prepared by Sheila, party hats, and a relative of Uncle John to surprise him. Uncle John was so thrilled that he broke out in his way of expression, “My heart is open” This, when read directly in Mandarin, means I am very happy. Indeed Uncle John was so happy today. His birthday was never celebrated in this manner, and he is very grateful to our club for the kindness.
Uncle John was hospitalized in April 2021 with heart failure. With the complications of COVID restrictions, Uncle John was only allowed to be discharged in Nov 2021.
