Divine Mercy School Fencing

PP John Bosco Agaba of the Rotary Club of Kabale, Uganda has sent an update on the status of this project that we have provided funding for.

We have been experiencing destructive torrential rains in our area for the whole month if May. This led us to halt the fencing of the school.

However, the following has been done:

  1. A metallic gate has been made at a cost of UGX3,150,000 including transportation to school.
  2. 102 Wooden poles have been purchased at UGX510,000 and transported to school at UGX150,000
  3. 4 rolls of barbed wire purchased at UGX920,000
  4. Assorted nails purchased at UGX 650,000.

Now that the rain has subsided, we shall embark on making holes to erect the wooden poles, affix the barbed wire and erect the metallic gate.

We could not use a chain link as earlier planned due to the high cost (UGX7,500,000 without a gate).

The gate will be affixed using columns made of iron bars reinforced with concrete (cement, aggregates and sand).

If resources allow, a short length wall will be put to support the columns holding the gate, with a plaque recognising the generous support from the Rotary Club of Freshwater Bay.
