Our speaker for our meeting on 30th October 2019 was our member Loren Pratt, who made a presentation on his ‘Life and Times’.
Loren had a great childhood, albeit very low socio-economic, though the family of six children were not really aware they were ‘poor’. It was from his parents, who both came from broken homes, that he learnt the values that have carried him throughout life, including his upbringing in the Seventh Day Adventist Church, which he and three brothers went on to become Pastors in.
The family moved frequently. A dog who adopted the family was responsible for teaching Loren many emotions and his father’s love of chooks has been passed onto Loren who now has a special pen full.
He worked on farms during holidays and earnings from this paid for his four years of study in Arts and Theology.
As it was a full meeting with AGMs and the Special meeting to accept the updated standard Club Constitution, Loren was only able to present the first part of his life, and will complete his story after the age of 20 early in the new year.
“Life is about what you give not get” were the wise words he left us with.
