Excellence in Service: Gordon Hudson

The inaugural recipient of the Rotary Club of Freshwater Bay’s PRID Dr Ken Collins AM CStJ CitWA Award for Excellence in Rotary Service was recognised at our Christmas / Club Birthday dinner on 17th December 2022, since the event always falls within a few days of PRID Ken’s birthday on December 16th.

PP Gordon Hudson joined the Rotary Club of Scarborough in 1968. He held all Board positions in the Club for many years, and served on the District Rotary Youth Exchange Committee and the Rotary Foundation Committee, of which he was a very successful Chair, raising significant funds. Gordon also lead a Group Study Exchange Team to Switzerland and served Rotary with distinction over his entire Rotary membership.

For the past 26 years as CEO, he headed up the Wheelchairs for Kids project, providing 54,000 wheelchairs to disabled children in countless countries around the world.

Gordon has been recognised by RI with its highest Award, the Service Above Self Award, and by the Rotary Foundation with a Meritorious Service and Distinguished Service Award, plus by his Club with s sapphire Paul Harris Fellow recognition.

Heartfelt Congratulations to Gordon on this lifetime of Service; he was PRID Ken’s choice to be recognised with this Award.

Gordon’s Club members were present on the night along with two of his daughters.
