Corporate Psychopaths at Work

On Wednesday 27th October, Dr Clive Boddy will be giving a presentation at our club meeting on the theme “Corporate Psychopaths at Work: What we know so far”.

Clive Boddy was a charter member of the Rotary Club of Freshwater Bay and is currently a Research Fellow at Curtin University. He was previously Professor of Management at the University of Tasmania and Professor of Leadership in the UK.

Clive’s research into corporate psychopaths and their divisive, controlling and bullying approach to workplace management started when studying for a Doctor of Business Administration at Curtin University in 2005. Since then, in a series of academic research papers, magazine articles, book chapters and books, Clive has published over 50 works on the effects of corporate psychopaths on employees, organisations and society. These publications include his latest book: “A Climate of Fear: Stone Cold Psychopaths at Work”.

Clive has also appeared in documentaries such as “Power Psychopaths” (in UK Channel 5’s series “Meet the Psychopaths”) and “The Psychopaths Next Door” (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation), talking about corporate psychopaths and their role in corporate banking and the events leading up to the 2007 global financial crisis.

In a 2021 paper “Populism and Political Personality: What Can We Learn from The Dark Triad Personality of Hermann Goering?” Clive makes some interesting comparisons between the personalities of Donald Trump and Hermann Goering.

Clive’s TEDx talk: “Bullying and Corporate Psychopaths at Work” has been viewed over a million times and can be seen at www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlB1pFwGhA4.
