Taste of Hope

On Wednesday 27th September 2023, parents and members of the APSN Chaoyang School Parent Support Group came together for a snow skin mooncake-making session, led by Freshwater Bay Rotarian Sheila Cheng.

Sheila guided the two parent groups with much patience and dedication. She reiterated the importance of creating hope for the parents as they explored and showcased innate skills of mooncake-making. Specifically, she encouraged parents to apply the newly acquired skills in teaching and guiding their children to make mooncakes as a bonding activity to enhance their motor skills. Importantly, the interactive session provided a platform for respite activity and valuable opportunities for sharing experiences and bonding among the parents.

It was indeed a fun-filled, fulfilling and meaningful mooncake-making session. Parents had a great time bonding and learning the intricate process of mooncake-making, bringing home a box of mooncakes to share with their family members. They unanimously agreed that they had benefitted greatly from the feedback.

The school would like to express their gratitude to Rotarian Clara Tan, Vice-President of the Rotary Club of Singapore East for her generous sponsorship of the ingredients, tools and materials (for motor skills). Additionally, their heartfelt appreciation goes out to Rotarian Sheila Cheng for demonstrating the snow skin mooncake-making to the parents and baking the mooncake cookies for their students and staff, and Rotarian LAU Eng Seng for being the photographer.

As part of the mid-autumn festivities, delectable mooncake cookies were also distributed to all the staff and students of APSN Chaoyang School.
