Our Club participates in the “Rotary 100 Peace Pole Project” coordinated by the Rotary Club of Canberra Burley Griffin.
Ordering Peace Poles
The Peace Poles sourced from Canberra and made in Australia using recycled PVC pipe conduit as the base material. During the co-extrusion process, the post is covered in a white, UV stable virgin PVC capping layer to achieve the white finish. This virgin layer is approximately 5-10% of the overall product volume, leaving the remaining 90-95% recycled, helping to prevent PCV ending up in landfill.

Peace Pole Ceremonies should ideally be held on September 21st each year, since that is World Peace Day.

Suggested wording for an email to each school to arrange the annual Peace Pole Ceremony:
Dear
I am writing to invite [Name of School] to again observe the United Nations International Day of Peace.
Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. The UN General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, through observing 24 hours of non-violence and cease-fire. Never has our world needed peace more.
I invite [Name of School] to observe this day via an assembly at the School to commemorate the International Day of Peace. The time and date can be flexible, but ideally close to 21 September. I will provide a suggested program for this observation, and one or two Rotarians would participate by reading the United Nations Secretary-General’s message for the International Day of Peace. Holding the assembly in the vicinity of the School’s Peace Pole would reinforce the message of peace.
