Australia Day Concert Announced

With the cancellation the fireworks this Australia Day, the Rotary Club of Freshwater Bay has chosen it as a perfect day to organise a fundraising concert, to fund its many worthy community and youth projects.

Where better to have such a concert than at Woodbridge House, a beautiful historic, fully restored National Trust homestead in Guildford, nestled between the Swan river, Guildford Grammar and Governor Stirling Senior High School where there will be ample parking.

To emphasise the Australiana theme, the Freeze Frame Opera truck will be used as a stage, as the concert will be family-friendly picnic style, outdoors with BYO blanket, chairs (preferably low), food and drink.

The concert will commence at 5.00 pm, after the heat of the day, and conclude by 7.00 pm to not make it a late night for those who work the following day.

Tickets are available online.

The concert will be first class with outstanding performers.

Repertoire will be light classical, well known and loved music, along with some music theatre, finishing off with a bracket of Australiana favourites.

  • An electronic theatre organ has been arranged for “Wunderkind” Alessandro Pittorino, the only Australian to graduate in Organ from the Julliard School of Music in New York to entertain all with his amazing skills on the organ.

Other highlights are WAAPA graduates who have worked and trained internationally:

  • Daniella Sicari, listed as one of the top 20 finest young singers by the Joan Sutherland and Richard Bonynge Bel Canto Award and Foundation,
  • Caitlin Cassidy, winner of the first Julie Michael Prize presented by the Government House Foundation, and
  • Brett Peart, who recently performed in a production of Mozart’s The magic Flute, along with our Raising Stars Beth Redwood and Olivia Ferguson, who both completed second year classical voice at WAAPA in 2020.
  • All of these wonderful artists will be accompanied by the well-known and highly skilled Caroline Badnall on keyboard.

Rising Stars Beth and Olivia have a connection with the Rotary Club of Freshwater Bay. Beth, who attended Newman College, was sponsored to attend the ConocPhillips Science Experience in Yr. 10, followed by the National Youth Science Forum in Canberra at the beginning of Yr. 12.  Here Beth stood out so visibly she was invited to return as a ‘Staffie’ the following year, and was one of only six ‘Senior Staffies’ in 2020.  Both Beth  and Olivia have been sponsored by Freshwater Bay to attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Camp from 4-10th January 2021.

Don’t miss this outstanding opportunity to celebrate Australia day by attending this memorable event.
